MillCreekWWOverflow.jpgMill Creek Wastewater Overflow Restoration
Anne Arundel County, Maryland
Due to the emergency nature of this project, BayLand responded to the call from Anne Arundel County DPW and was on site of the spill in less than an hour to perform an emergency assessment and immediate remediation of the stream, floodplain and wetlands impacted by a 3 million gallon sewage spill and 1,700 CY of contaminated sediment. The spill resulted from a large diameter sewer line collapse which caused a huge sinkhole and resulted in overwhelming the downstream pump station. BayLand quickly developed a restoration plan and obtained emergency permits to reopen the impacted stream and floodplain. BayLand directed restoration activities in the field and managed the contractor to remove sewage contaminated sediments from the stream channel and wetlands near the Mill Creek Pump Station.
