Civil Engineer / Coastal / Water Resources Engineer
BayLand is seeking an entry-level Civil / Coastal / Water Resources Engineer with 0 to 2 years of experience to join our team in support of a growing workload in marine infrastructure and coastal restoration projects. The work will focus on surveying, permitting, design, and construction management for a variety of water access facility, boating infrastructure, shoreline protection, habitat creation, coastal resiliency, dredging, and dredged material management projects.
The successful candidate will work directly for Professional Engineers and Project Managers and will provide engineering support to the design team in both field and office assignments. Tasks assigned to this position are selected to rapidly expand engineering experience and establish a solid foundation for becoming a Professional Engineer. A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they: are an organized and motivated individual with strong communication skills; possess an eye for detail; can work collaboratively with other team members; and can become responsible for independently completing assigned engineering tasks with minimal oversight.
The ideal candidate should be familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D and able to quickly become proficient in preparing civil/site designs and construction documents. The ideal candidate would also have exposure in analysis of technical field work such as survey processing or geotechnical investigations. Coursework in AutoCAD Civil 3D and surveying will be considered relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in Civil, Coastal, or Water Resources Engineering from an accredited college or university

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Exposure to AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with clients, regulators, public officials, and team members

Generalist
BayLand Consultants & Designers, Inc. (BayLand) seeks a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our collaborative and driven team in Hanover, Maryland. We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated individual who can be an integral part of BayLand’s expanding operations and growing team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of our company's human resources strategy and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.

Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.

Maintain and update HCM systems ensuring date is up to date and complete.

Oversee and manage annual review/ performance appraisal program.

Manage and run in-house payroll, including bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company leave policies and benefits.

Administer company’s benefit programs, including health, life, and disability insurance and health savings accounts.

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding benefits, leave administration and other issues related to our insurance and benefit programs.

Partner with our benefits broker to navigate annual open enrollment and communicate available options to staff.

Manage all employee leave including FMLA and workers compensation.

Serve as a resource to team leaders to drive professional development and advancement.

Monitor workplace to ensure full compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations and ensure adherence to requirements.

Manage the recruitment and selection process and partner with hiring managers to ensure talent acquisition best practices.

Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation sessions as well as terminations and exit interviews.

Report to management and provide support through HR metrics.

Serve as a workforce champion and promote a positive work environment and employee experience.
Desired Skills / Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Human Resources or related field.

Proven track record (5+ years) of working experience as HR Generalist/Administrator or othe comprehensive HR role, preferably in Architectural/Engineering or Construction industries.

Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics.

Knowledge of HR systems and databases.

Developed skills in coaching managers, facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management.

Proven track record as a consummate professional, with the ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion and sound judgment, as well as applying critical thinking in ambiguous situations.

Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills.

Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of BayLand.

In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.

In-depth experience with hands-on full life-cycle payroll processing. Previous Deltek/Ajera is helpful not mandatory.

Unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Must have a valid driver’s licenses and an insurable driving record. Background check may be required.

This position requires that the successful candidate primarily work onsite at our office in Hanover, Maryland for proper and efficient workflow with management and employees.

$85,000-$105,000 based on qualifications and experience.
